Life Hack #23: Make a Playlist of Favorite Songs

What songs make you happy? What songs get you motivated? What songs just make you feel good?

Creating a playlist of your favorite songs can do amazing things to our brains. One study found that some older adults with dementia who hadn’t spoken in years began singing and talking about distance memories when given iPods of their favorite music.

Their moods lifted and their brains literally came alive. In small but significant ways, they connected with the world again.

Listening to music we enjoy, increases our brains feel-good chemicals and activates important brain structures that make a real positive difference in how we lead our lives. It’s worth the time to create playlists that are helpful and meaningful for you – to boost your mood, to get you pumped up, to reminisce, or even to encourage more peace in your life.
